Classes Offered
Ballet:
Ballet is the foundation of good dance technique. This is where students build the strength, flexibility, balance and rhythm needed for all dance forms. All serious dancers should study ballet.
Pointe:
Pointe is a specialized extension of ballet training where ballerinas dance on the tips of their toes in specially designed shoes. Students must be selected by MDC instructors to begin pointe work.
Jazz:
Jazz dance encompasses many styles, including classical, lyrical jazz, contemporary dance and musical theatre dance, while emphasizing the development of alignment and technique. Jazz utilizes techiniques and movements inherent to ballet while spicing it up with style and attitude.
Tap:
Tap is a rhythmic form of dance developed in the early 1900's. Dancers use their feet as instruments to reproduce and create various sounds and rhythmic patterns.
Hip Hop:
Hip Hop is widely seen on TV in music videos. It is a a form of Jazz dance that evolved out of street and breakdancing moves and is characterized by its vigorous athletics and funky style.
Combination:
Combination classes are offered to dancers ages 3 to 5 and include 25 minutes of ballet and 25 minutes of tap.
Adult Classes:
Classes vary, but have included Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Salsa, Pilates, Belly Dancing and Ballroom. Call for current schedule.
Competition Team:
AIM! Is Art in Motions Dance Center’s traveling competition team. AIM! is a open to all Art in Motion Dance Center students and dancers are placed according to level and ability.
